The Cuban Missile Crisis was an incredibly tense time in world history. With the three countries of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Cuba all worrying about the threat of nuclear missiles, every other country worried if the world would soon come to an end.
This newsreel takes place during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It states that President John F. Kennedy placed Cuba under naval quarantine, due to aerial photography capturing Soviet nuclear missiles within the country. The Soviet Union and the United States argue over the best course of action. The broadcaster and voice-over depict the Soviet Union as unreasonable, and Fidel Castro as reckless. Regardless of what one thinks of either party, the footage is biased and is meant to turn Americans against both Cuba and the Soviet Union.
